Just when I thought I couldn't love my neighborhood any more... Hector is the kindly, beautiful soul who parks his truck brimming with fresh fruits and veggies, in front of my house every day. Not only is his stuff super convenient, *as cheap as it gets* -really! even cheaper than the little mercados! But Hector is seriously one of the sweetest, gentlest, most beautiful human beings I've ever met. He sells melons, pineapples, oranges, limes, and *fantastic* avocados. (and now he's also branching off into women's clothing ;) Normally, I try to shop as organic as possible. Hector's stuff is not organic. But I feel like I really am shopping along my values of sustainability. The produce is very local, very fresh, and I get to support a wonderful person as well, so I feel very good about where my (the little it is - seriously, *so cheap*) money goes. He's only 1/2 block from the 24th st BART (across from the Mission library) - check it out, you won't be disappointed!
